WW II
Links

There are a large number of World War II sites on the Internet these days.
Here are a few I thought were most worthwhile.
You have got to go here! This site has the neatest collection of
WW II sounds,
Wartime posters, pictures and more. Historical Sounds and Pictures / Holocaust / WWII
Sounds and Pictures / WWII's "Tokyo Rose" / Posters / Winston Churchill's
Wartime Broadcasts. Fascinating!

Encyclopedia
Britannica -- The Normandy Invasion has sections on all the named beaches,
Monty's radio address to the troops, Chester Wilmot reports for the BBC from a glider over
France, Ernie Pyle, "The Ocean was Infested with Ships" and several others.
Also, Newsreels, News stories, pictures, Statistics, a quality links page and much more. Highly
recommended.

You would
expect a quality site from PBS, WGBH and The American Experience and you get it at
The American Experience -- D Day.

The Third
Army site has bios of all past commanders, including Patton. There is also a very good summary of statistics on Third
Army accomplishments in France and Germany.

The
Patton Society - Excellent source
for information on
General
George S. Patton, Jr. including bio, the speech, Patton Prayer and more.
The Web Site of General George S. Patton is sanctioned by the Estate of
General Patton. It too has a bio as well as an excellent photo gallery of
the General. |
